On August 1, 2025, the State Administration of Standardization officially released the GB 26572-2025rictions on the Use of Harmful Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products, which will be officially implemented on August 1, 2027, and will fully replace recommended standard GB/T 26572-2011. This marks the formal upgrade of China RoHS to a mandatory national standard. The full text of standard is currently in the process of being released.
GB 26572-2025 is the first compulsory national standard in China's RoHS control field, and its technical content is on the analysis of relevant policies, regulations, and the current situation and trends of harmful substance substitution technology in the industry. It integrates and improves the technical content of the two recommended "GB/T 26572-2011 Restricted Use of Substances in Electronic and Electrical Products" and "SJ/T 1164-2024 Requirements for the Restricted Use of Harmful Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products".
The main content of the technical update is as follows:
1、The types of hazardous substances controlled in China's electrical and electronic products have been increased from six to ten major categories, keeping pace with international industry requirements; ( controlled limits for four additional phthalate ester (PAEs) hazardous substances: di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), di-isobut phthalate (DIBP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), and di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DE)); | Serial number | Harmful substances | Harmful substance

2、For the test method of limit index of harmful substances content in electrical and electronic products, GB/T 39560 (all parts) "Detination of certain substances in electrical and electronic products" series standard methods (IEC 62321 (all parts), IDT) shall be used consistently, so to ensure the accuracy and consistency of RoHS compliance testing results in the industry; 3、In the requirements for the restricted use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, new two-dimensional code, screen display and other digital representations of related identification information been added to reduce the cost of RoHS management for enterprises; 4、When it comes to the declaration of conformity for the restricted use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, increasing the requirements for testing reports covering products with high-risk components in the technical support documents will enhance the overall credibility of the industry's "self-declaration" RoHS conformity assessment results; 5、Added inspection rules to support the industry to continuously guarantee the quality of RoHS compliance in the routine production process of electrical and electronic products.
