In February 2025, the International Electrotechnical Commission released the 7th edition of IEC 60335-2-4:2025, Safety of Household and Similar Use Electrical Appliances Part 2: Particular Requirements for Kitchen Machinery. Compared with the previous version, the released 7th edition of IEC 60335-2-14:2025 has many key technical points added, changed, and replaced. this comparison, only the technical points with significant changes are highlighted.
The main technical content that this standard adds and changes is as follows:
1、The standard version is changed to be used with the 6th edition of IEC 60335-1: 2020.
2、Standard range states products unsuitable for children, add up to 250 VDC battery powered appliances.
3、Increase TC 61 guidance document 61/6234/INF use, guidance power and normal temperature rise in load, test time, cycle.
4、Product Berry-juice extractors to be amended to Auger juicers, add definition of Auger juicers as a type of appliance.
5、Increase the requirements of the instructions:
●Products not suitable for children should include corresponding warning information that children should not use them.
●For vessels of stated capacity, the stated capacity shall be indicated in the instructions for use, unless it is marked on the vessel.
●For multifunctional appliances, the rated power can be marked according to the function or according to the most demanding rated power.
6、The standard clarifies the categories of products unsuitable for children, and the assessment of both energized parts and moving parts excludes the use of test finger 18.
7、In addition to the product categories that are explicitly unsuitable for children in section 7.12, the test conditions for standard finger B are amended to include test with finger 18.
8、Increase in surface temperature rise for evaluation of Table 101.
9、Increase the normal temperature rise test time requirements for products with increasing procedures, clocks and remote control, and increase the normal temperature rise test conditions for battery-powered equipment
10、Increase the normal temperature rise time and cycle requirements for chopping function and lathe-type peelers products.
11、Increase the charging requirements of metal-ion batteries.
12、Clarify that the overflow test for Cordless blenders uses a 1% NaCl and 0.6% detergent test.
13、Increase the overflow test requirements for products with detachable gaskets.
14、The stall test for the motor increases the test time requirements for battery-powered products with remote control and manual hold switch states.
15、Electronic interlock switches require additional component open-short circuit abnormality tests, electromagnetic compatibility tests, and if it is a programmable chip control, software evaluation also required.
16、Add Knives tool offset switch requirements.
17、Special requirements for the construction of food processors to be changed to products with accessible moving parts.
18、 Hand-held products, products with accessible moving parts, and products that require further user interaction cannot use remote control or delayed activation.
19、Remote control requirements:
●The priority of the Off switch on the product is higher than the remote switch.
●Working hours must be set before the product starts.
●The product must be operated to enter the remote control state, and there must be a visual display on the product in the remote control state.

Warm Reminder:Currently, IEC 60335-2-14 has only been updated to the IEC version, and other countries' deviations, as Europe, Australia, Japan, South Korea, etc., have not been synchronized with IEC 60335-2-14: 2025 Therefore, products that are being transferred still need to be assessed according to the old version, the sixth edition. If CB is issued and subsequent transfer certification is considered, then assessments need to be made in both versions.
