On May 19, the Saudi standards, Metrology and quality organization (SASO)2023 a technical regulation on “Power consumption requirements for standby and shutdown modes of electrical and electronic equipment” on its official website, the ordinance will come into 2024 on July 1.
The Saudi Arabian authorities have officially announced that they will implement standby energy regulations for the following products:
Note:
1. The category of electronic displays does not include these products: electronic screens smaller than 100CM2, projectors, conference display systems, medical monitors, VR displays, control screens.
2. The test reports required in the technical documentation shall be in accordance with the standards EN 50564 and EN 50643 as specified in annex 3 to the regulations. The technical specifications are similar to the EU standby power regulations, but some products differ from the EU requirements, such as electronic displays, dishwashers and washing machines.
3. The power management system should be switched to standby/shutdown mode within 15 minutes of the end of the washing machine and dishwasher program.
The manufacturer shall prepare technical documentation to demonstrate product compliance in accordance with Annex 7 to the regulations and make a declaration of self-compliance in accordance with Annex 5 to the regulations.
