On 26 February 2025, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) released three toy testing method standards. The purpose adding three testing method standards is as the test method standards for the detection of harmful substances in Annex II, Appendix C of the EU Toy Safety Directive 209/48/EC.
EN 71-15:2025 Safety of toys - Part 15: Amines (content) in foam-based toy
EN 71-16:2025 Safety of toys - Part 16: Certain chlorinated phosphorus flame retardantsTCEP, TCPP, TDCP) in toy materials
Effective date
By 31 August 2025, CEN members to convert into national standards.
Expected publication in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) and listed as a harmonised standard for Safety Directive 200/48/EC.
