The EU's standby power consumption regulation (EU) 2023/826 will be enforced from May 9, 2025.

The new EU regulation on standby power consumption of Energy-Related Products (ErP), (EU) 2023/826, officially published on April 18, 2023, took effect on May 9, 2023, and will be enforced from May9, 2025.


 Major changes in new regulations


 1. Cover the maximum energy consumption requirements of various electrical and electronic equipment in off mode, standby mode and network standby.

 2. Repeal the old EU standby power consumption regulations (EC) 1275/2008 and the simple set-top eco-design requirements regulations (EC) 107/2009.

3. The lower limit of the standby and off mode remains at 0.50 W, and the lower limit of the off mode is increased 0.30 W from 2027-05-09.

4. The standby power consumption limit for devices with a display shall not exceed 0.80 watts. Tumble dryers shall not exceed .00 watts.

5. Networked products with HiNA function shall not exceed 8.00 W standby power consumption, and those without HiNA function shall not 2.00 W standby power consumption.

6. Expand product range:

Remove the exemption for equipment powered by low-voltage external power supplies in the old regulations.

Remove washing machines, dishwashers two types of products, which are separately defined and required in the regulations of (EU) 20192023 and (EU) 2019/2022.

Add new beverage preparation machines, curling irons and other hair care equipment.

Requirements for adding new devices such as printers and game consoles.

Incorporate simple set-top boxes and complex set-top boxes into the product variety.

Including adjustable furniture, and electric blinds, doors, windows and similar products.

According to the EU Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC, products that do not meet the new requirements will not allowed to be placed on the EU market.
