The EU proposes to extend the exemption of lead in the RoHS directive!

On January 6, 2025, the European Union submitted three notifications to the World Trade Organization (WTO), G/TBT/EU/1102, G/TBT/N/EU/1103, and G/TBT/N/EU/1104, concerning extension or update of the lead exemption clauses in several materials in Annex III of the EU RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU). The draft entered a 60-day comment period from the date of issuance and are scheduled to be adopted in March 2025.


 In the notification G/TBT/N/EU/1102, the exemption 7(a) of Annex III to the RoHS directive is proposed to be replaced by the following:

In the notification G/TBT/N/EU/1103, the exemption provisions 7(c)-I and 7(c)-II of III ofthe RoHS directive are replaced and new exemption provisions 7(c)-V and 7(c)-VI are added:2.jpg
