cTUVus is an NRTL safety certification issued by TÜV Rheinland for both the US and Canadian markets. TÜV Rheinland holds dual qualifications as an OSHA-recognised NRTL in the United States and an SCC recognised certification body in Canada. A single certificate demonstrates compliance with US UL standards and Canadian CSA standards, enabling products to clear customs and be sold in both countries. This certification is widely adopted for power supplies, lighting fixtures, industrial control equipment and electrical medical devices. The certificate number can be verified on the North America official website of TÜV Rheinland.

Product Scope

      Power supplies, lighting luminaires, audio-visual equipment, power tools, industrial control equipment, selected electrical medical devices and household appliances.

Application Process

1. Identify the applicable UL and CSA standards and submit the complete set of technical documentation.

2. Carry out safety testing with product samples.

3. TÜV Rheinland North America reviews the test report and supporting documents.

4. Conduct the initial factory audit.

5. Issue the certificate and grant permission to print the cTUVus mark on products.

6. Annual factory surveillance audits are required to keep the certificate active.

Certification Mark

      The cTUVus mark consists of TÜV Rheinland’s diamond logo alongside “c” and “us” identifiers. The minimum height of the mark shall be 5 mm. The nameplate must use durable label materials. Bilingual labelling in English and French is mandatory for goods sold into Canada. Only official vector files may be used; manual redrawing or alteration of the logo graphic is prohibited.
