Introduction to PSE Certification

      PSE Certification is a mandatory safety certification for electrical goods in Japan. It proves that products have passed safety standard tests in compliance with Japan’s Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Act or international IEC standards. Electrical products entering the Japanese market must bear the PSE mark, which is available in two types: the Diamond Mark and the Circle Mark. Products requiring the Diamond Mark are subject to more stringent testing and review to ensure product safety and compliance with relevant regulations. Products with valid PSE certification may be sold on the Japanese market and gain consumer trust and recognition.

Diamond PSE

      Covers 165 categories of products, including wires, wiring devices, current limiters, transformers, ballasts, electric heating appliances, electric power-operated machinery, AC electrical machinery, portable generators, other AC machinery, conduits, small AC motors, light sources and light-source-operated machinery, storage batteries, DC power supply units, switches and sockets, electric water heaters, power cords and plugs, other transformers for household appliances (AC-AC power products), etc.

 

Circle PSE

      Covers 341 categories of products, including electric blankets, electric steamers, hair curlers, electric ovens, microwave ovens, hair steamers, refrigerators, electric mixers, egg cookers, electric warming basins, hair dryers, electric humidifiers, projectors, shredders, printers, laminators, washing machines, incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, table lamps, decorative lamps, advertising lamps, lithium batteries, and all LED bulbs and LED luminaires, etc.

 

Application Process

1. The client submits application documents and samples to HATEK.

2. HATEK reviews the documents and arranges laboratory testing.

3. Once testing passes for Circle PSE, a Circle PSE certificate is issued.

4. Once testing passes for Diamond PSE, factory inspection by the certification body is completed, followed by issuance of the Diamond PSE certificate.
