EU’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) enters into full force on 12 August 2026!

      Attention to enterprises exporting to the EU! The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR) will be fully implemented on 12 August 2026. Covering all packaging and packaging waste, the regulation sets control requirements across the entire lifecycle of packaging, including mandatory provisions on environmental sustainability, marking and labelling, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and waste reduction & prevention. Relevant enterprises are advised to complete compliance preparations in advance.

• Scope of PPWR:

      Applicable subjects: All packaging, packaging materials and packaging waste of all types and materials, covering both B2B and B2C scenarios.

Geographic coverage: The 27 EU Member States and Northern Ireland of the United Kingdom. Non-EU enterprises are subject to this regulation as long as they place packaged products on these markets.

      Packaging refers to items, regardless of material, intended by economic operators to contain, protect, handle, deliver or present products to another economic operator or end user, and which are not an inseparable intrinsic part of the product itself. Examples include but are not limited to cartons, packing tapes, cushioning foams, stretch films and pallets.
