ErP stands for Energy-related Products Directive (Regulation 2009/125/EC). It is a mandatory directive within the CE compliance framework and does not have a standalone ErP logo. Products complying with ErP requirements bear the CE mark as usual. It governs eco-design indicators for energy-consuming and energy-related products, including energy efficiency, standby power consumption, repairability and recyclability. Certain product categories require the new EU A-G energy label and mandatory model registration in the EU EPREL database; products without registration are prohibited from being placed on the market. Although commonly referred to by clients as “ERP certification”, it is not an independent certificate but an integral part of CE compliance and must be assessed together with directives such as LVD and EMC.

 

Product Scope

      Energy-related products including refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, dishwashers, televisions, displays, LED luminaires, external power adapters, fans, water heaters and boilers. The regulatory product scope is continuously updated and expanded.

 

Application Process

1. Confirm the applicable ErP implementing regulation and define required test items.

2. A laboratory conducts tests for energy efficiency, standby power consumption and other parameters in accordance with EU harmonised standards.

3. Compile the ErP test report and integrate it into the complete CE technical documentation package.

4. For products requiring an energy label, create the new A-G energy label. The EU responsible person completes model registration in the EPREL database.

5. Sign the DoC (Declaration of Conformity) and affix the CE mark.

6. Retain the full set of technical documentation for at least 10 years to prepare for EU market surveillance audits.

 

Certification Mark

      There is no separate ErP logo. The CE mark printed on the product indicates compliance with the ErP directive. Selected product categories must display the new EU A-G energy label, a coloured label containing energy efficiency class, energy consumption data and the EPREL QR code. The energy label has strict size and layout specifications; template modification is not permitted. The label may be applied as an adhesive sticker on a visible part of the product housing.
